Banana is a key staple crop throughout East and Central Africa.

Banana yields in the region have declined drastically in recent years, with dire consequences for food security in the region.

We, at IITA, are using a multidisciplinary approach to tackle the multitude of problems that banana production is facing.

Ultimately, and in collaboration with the National Agricultural Research Organization (NARO), Ugandaand other partners, we aim for research that focuses towards sustainable banana production for African farmers.
